Troubleshooting TP-Link Deco M5 Setup Issues
If your TP-Link Deco M5 setup isn’t working properly or your Wi-Fi isn’t connecting, don’t worry. You can easily resolve these issues by following the steps below to set it up with your existing router.
Unbox and Power Up the Deco M5
- Unbox the Deco M5: Start by removing the Deco M5 unit from its packaging.
- Power It Up: Plug the main Deco M5 unit into a power outlet.
- Connect to Your Router: Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Deco M5 to your existing router.
- Check the LED: Wait for the LED on the Deco unit to blink blue, indicating that it’s ready for setup.
Install the TP-Link Deco App
- Download the App: Get the TP-Link Deco app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Sign In: Open the app and either sign in or create a TP-Link ID to proceed.
- Begin Setup: Tap on “Let’s Begin” to start the setup process.
Configure Your Deco M5
- Select Deco Mode: Choose the Deco M5 option when prompted.
- Choose Your Layout: Select the layout that matches your connection setup.
- Select Internet Type: Opt for “Router with Internet” as your internet source.
- Network Naming: Follow the in-app instructions to name your network and create a Wi-Fi password.
Choose Your Operating Mode
The Deco M5 can function in two different modes:
- Router Mode (Default): This mode creates a separate Wi-Fi network from your existing router.
- Access Point Mode: To enable Access Point mode, follow these steps:
- Go to the mode settings in the Deco app.
- Click on “Advanced.”
- Select “Operation Mode” and choose “Access Point.”
Adding Additional Deco Units
- Plug In Additional Units: Position and plug in any additional Deco units in different rooms.
- Check LED Indicators: Once the LED on the new unit blinks blue, open the app.
- Tap to Add: In the app, tap “Add Deco” to successfully include the new unit in your network.
