Welcome Back to Our Channel!
Are you excited about launching your own online store but don’t know where to begin? In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to start a Shopify store from scratch, even if you’ve never sold anything online before. By the end, you’ll be ready to make your online debut!
Choosing Your Niche
Before diving into the Shopify platform, it’s essential to determine what kind of store you want to run. Although selling everything might sound appealing, it’s more effective to focus on a niche. Consider something specific, such as eco-friendly home goods, personalized pet products, or streetwear for gamers. Utilize tools like Google Trends, TikTok, or Pinterest to explore what’s trending. Your goal is to find a product that either solves a real problem or sparks excitement—this will be your starting point!
Getting Started with Shopify
- Open Your Browser: Go to the search bar and type in “Shopify.”
- Begin Your Journey: Click on the link that says “Shopify start selling online.” You’ll be directed to the Shopify homepage.
- Start Your Free Trial: Hit the “Start Free Trial” button to proceed. You’ll see several sign-up options—choose one that works for you, like signing up with Google.
Setting Up Your Account
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll need to answer a few questions about your selling preferences:
- Where would you like to sell? Select the online store option.
- What describes you best? Choose “I’m not selling yet.”
- What do you plan to sell? Here, you can select “Products I buy or make myself,” among other options, like services or drop shipping products.
Choosing a Plan
After answering the initial questions, you will be prompted to choose a plan. Currently, you can sign up for free by clicking “Skip, I will decide later.” Just keep in mind that once you list your products and are ready to publish your store, you will have to select a payment plan.
Customizing Your Store
After setting up your account, it’s time to make your store visually appealing:
- Select a Theme: Choose a free theme from the Shopify Theme Store. Options like “Dawn” are great for beginners.
- Customization: Navigate to the customization page by clicking the “Customize” button. Here, you can modify your homepage, logo, and colors to align with your brand.
Adding Your Products
Now it’s time to add your products:
- Access the Products Section: Click on the “Products” option.
- Add Products: Click “Add Products” to navigate to the product entry page. Fill in your product’s name, description, media (pictures and videos), category, and pricing.
- Save Your Changes: Don’t forget to hit the “Save” button!
Setting Up Payments and Shipping
Next up, make sure your payment and shipping settings are in order:
- Payments: Go to “Settings” and then “Payments” to set up Shopify Payments or PayPal.
- Shipping Zones: Configure your shipping zones and consider offering free shipping, as this is a major incentive for customers.
Choosing Your Domain
Now it’s time to select a domain name that is catchy and brandable:
- Domain Options: Click on the “Domains” option and choose a domain name. You can purchase your domain directly through Shopify.
- Make Your Store Live: Finally, hit the “Remove Password” button, and just like that, your Shopify store will be live!
