Migrating Your WordPress Site to a New Host
Welcome back to our channel! In this blog post, I’m excited to share with you a step-by-step guide on how to migrate your WordPress site to a new hosting provider. Letβs dive right in!
Step 1: Install the Migration Plugin
To begin the migration process, log in to your WordPress dashboard. From there, navigate to Plugins and select Installed Plugins. On this page, click on the Add New option in the top left corner of the screen.
Next, in the search bar, type "migrate" and press Enter. This will display several plugin options available for installation. For this guide, I recommend using "WP Migrate and Clone Free" by Migrate Guru, which has more than 100,000 installations, a full five-star rating, and is compatible with the latest version of WordPress.
Click on the Install Now button for the selected plugin, and once the installation is complete, tap on the Activate button to enable the plugin. After activation, you will be directed to the Migrate Guru page.
Step 2: Start the Migration Process
On the Migrate Guru page, you will need to accept the terms and conditions. After that, enter your email address in the designated box before clicking on the Migrate button.
Once youβve done that, copy the migration key provided in this section. You will need it in the next steps.
Step 3: Configure Migration Settings
Now, click on Migrate again and select the host you are migrating to. For this example, I am choosing HostGator.
Next, enter your migration key along with all the other required information related to your new host. Make sure to fill in all fields accurately to ensure a smooth migration process.
Step 4: Complete the Migration
Lastly, after filling in all necessary details, click on the Migrate button. Your migration process will begin, and once completed, your WordPress site will be successfully moved to the new host.
